Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday

Monday
Sino 'yon? Ako May 14.  Nakauwi ako sa Parañaque ng 4AM. Plakda.

Tuesday
Off ko. Oo daw.  Pabor.  Di na ko mahihirapan mag-shopping.  Abot kaagad ng cash.  Wag niyo na itanong kung magkano.  Bike ulit ng dalawang oras pabalik ng Parañaque.  Kala ko di ko kakayanin.  Nakauwi din ng 11PM, tapos nagpamasahe sa bahay.

Wednesday
Pasok sa work.  Lethargic.  Kulang sa tulog.  Gusto mag-blog-hopping, pero di kaya.  Kasi antok at masakit pa ang katawan sa ginawang pagba-bike.  Pahinga muna.

Merry Christmas, and remember:  Christmas is not about gifts.

My Rail Transit Bloopers

Wala pang MRT noong 1985. Batang-bata at gwapong-gwapo pa ako noon (talagang isiningit).

Fast forward to 2001.

My Christmas Wish List and Then Some

Here is my Christmas 2011 wish list.

A male Jack Russell puppy.

I went to Cartimar Pasay this afternoon to buy some accessories for my MTB.  Sinilip ko rin mga pet shops doon.  I fell in love with the Jack Russell, especially yung isa doon male puppy na may maliit na black spot sa left side, then white na lahat.  Kaya lang walang papers.  P8500 negotiable.  May nakita rin ako with papers, female, and hindi ko siya gusto kasi parang maldita.  The current market price of Jack Russell is 15k to 18k, with papers.

Speaking of Cartimar, sarap pala mag-shopping doon.  Hindi masikip, walang pila, daming sale.  Nadala akong pumunta ng Baclaran.  Kasi pupunta sana ako sa house namin sa Tondo nung Sunday, and sabi ko ayokong dumaan sa Divisoria, so I would take the LRT from Baclaran.  Kaasar doon kasi andaming tao. Imagine moving your feet ng pakala-kalahati.  Ganoon.  Three blocks na ganoong lakad.  Tapos meron pang tulak nang tulak.  Tapos meron pang di kanais-nais na amoy nung nasa unahan mo.  It took me almost 30 minutes to reach the LRT station.  Di na ako dadaan doon ulit.  Pero babalik ako sa Cartimar.  Nakabili ako ng original Oakley basketball shorts for P100.  Old stock daw yon.  Ok na pang MTB or pambahay.

Please Help Me Win This "Like" Campaign for My Sister

We are seven in the family, and my sis is the youngest.  Ako po ang eldest.  One of the things that I'm proud of my sister is that her fiance is her first and only boyfriend, and she's getting married to him.  They've been on since their college days.

Eto biruan namin ng sis ko after her boyfriend proposed to her:

Sis:  Hello, Supplier. Go na yung orders ko.
Supplier:  Ma'm, ano po igo-go natin?  Yung order niyo nung 2006, 2007, 2008, or 2009?

They are getting married next year.  I am asking for your support for them to win this online contest.  Please go to Wedding Expo Philippines and follow the instructions.  Your liking it will be greatly appreciated.  And please post this on your Facebook wall and ask friends to support.  I will appreciate your help.  Thank you. - Rence

Winnie Monsod - Gloria Arroyo's Wealth -Impossible!!!

Weeks after the PCIJ report on the President's Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth came out, the President still has not explained, as she must, why her net worth has more than doubled between 2000 and 2008 from P61.9 million to P144.5 million.

Certainly her salary as President, which is P60,000 a month or P720,000 a year, cannot justify such an increase.

One should also eliminate from the equation possible gains from stock market trading because unless she or her stockbroker are trading geniuses, making the kind of killing she would have to make to justify her net worth increases would be very improbable because of the stock market decline in 2008.

Thus, she would have to show very large increases in her other income which would be most naturally attributed to the income of her spouse. This, she still has not done.

Actually the Philippines has very strict laws that if implemented properly, would show unexplained wealth and possible graft and corrupt practices by government officials right away.

Our 1987 Constitution mandates it.

And previous to that, there is RA 1379, passed way back in 1955, which provides that... Whenever any public officer or employee has acquired during his incumbency an amount of property which is manifestly out of proportion to his salary as such public officer or employee and his other lawful income and the income from legitimately acquired property, said property shall be presumed prima facie to have been unlawfully acquired.

Note that the burden of proof is on the public officer: he has to show that he has lawfully acquired the property.

The presumption of innocence does not apply here; and if the judge is not satisfied with the explanation, he will declare the property in question forfeited to the State.

Then there is RA 3019, passed in 1960 and known as the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, which requires every government officer and employee to file every year a SALN, including a statement of the amounts and sources of his income, the amounts of his personal and family expenses, and the amount of income taxes paid for the next preceding calendar.

Finally, there is RA 6713 passed in 1989 also known as the Code of Conduct for government employees which gives all the details for filing the SALN, when and where to file, who to file it with, who is supposed to be the repository agency, and what are the penalties for non-filing; and this law includes the fact that the SALN is public information available to any taxpayer.

In spite of all these safeguards and laws, however, we all know that the Philippines' performance with regard to reducing corruption has been miserable.

The very fact that it was a media organization, the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism, that researched and analyzed the President's SALN, instead of the Office of the Ombudsman, gives us a clue.

Another clue is given by the data shown in a paper presented to an international conference in Jakarta in 2007 by Deputy Ombudsman Pelagio Apostol: Between 2002 and 2007, the average number of complaints filed yearly with the Ombudsman for failure to file a true and detailed SALN was 27; the average number of complaints filed for forfeiture of unexplained wealth was 15.

Compared with the 1.4 million employees who file SALN yearly, the proportion is negligible.

The message that comes out loud and clear in all this is that the agencies that are repositories of the SALN, particularly the Ombudsman, don't seem to know what to do with the reports they get, or don't have either the time or the inclination to do what must be done.

The Office of the Ombudsman should be monitoring the President and Vice President, as well as the chairmen and members of the Constitutional Commissions.

Why didn't it blow the whistle on the President's seemingly unexplained wealth?

The Ombudsman created a much-publicized SALN data bank three years ago and the public should be told exactly what is being done to all these computerized records.

Instead, they just seem to wait for complaints to be filed by the public and act only then.

What a pity. Can we do anything about this? Yes.

First, we can make sure that the persons we elect to leadership positions have no reputation for kurakot.

Second, that they do not choose cronies to fill up important positions, but rather choose the most qualified for the job.

And third, we must also make sure that we are ready to file complaints against government officials who are living beyond their means we have to be a nation of whistleblowers.

That is what the times call for. We must heed that call.

In other words, it is really up to us.

Sleeping Beauty

That's all, Folks!

Sumbong - Isa Pang Naguguluhan

Isumbong Mo Kay Kuya Response 1

Comment galing kay Acre of Diamond:

Dear kuya,
Ganon pa man asahan mong susulat ako sayo pag akoy naguguluhan.

ang nagmamahal
Acre of Diamond

Sagot ni Kuya:

Dear Acre of Diamond,

Lab yu tu.

Sumasaakin,
Kuya

Follow-up na sangguni ni Acre of Diamond:

Dear Kuya,

Acre of Diamond

Sagot ni Kuya:

Dear Acre of Diamond,

Akinkanalang,
Kuya

Gory Movie: The Human Centipede 1 and 2

Napanood ko yung The Human Centipede at ang sequel nito, The Human Centipede 2.

Clue: Don't eat while watching the movie. Pwede rin huwag ka kumain before watching the movie, but I doubt kung makakain ka AFTER watching the movie. Enjoy watching. =)

I was eating the whole time I was watching the two movies. Ganon ata katibay ang sikmura ko.

Hawak-Kamay by Yeng Constantino

I became a fan of Yeng Constantino when I watched this video.  Yes, I cry everytime I view it again. Happy birthday, Yeng. This is for you.

Hawak-Kamay
written and sung by Yeng Constantino

Baka sakaling may masumpungan
O, di kaya ako'y tawagin
Malaman mong kahit kailan

Hawak-kamay
Di kita iiwan sa paglakbay
Dito sa mundong walang katiyakan
Hawak-kamay
Di kita bibitawan sa paglalakbay
Sa mundo ng kawalan
Minsan madarama mo
Baka sakaling may masumpungan
Di kaya ako’y tawagin
Malaman mong kahit kailan

Bridge:
Wag mong sabihin nag-iisa ka
Laging isipin may makakasama
Narito ako ohhh, Narito ako…

Sa mundo ng kawalan
Hawak-kamay, Hawak-kamay, Hawak-kamay
Sa mundo ng kawalan

Untitled

Does giving an article the title "Untitled" make the untitled titled?

Solitaire

Parang ako lang yung sinasabi ng kanta

Solitaire
by Clay Aiken

There was a man, a lonely man
Who lost his love through his indifference
A heart that cared, that went unshared
Until it died in his silence

And solitaire's the only game in town
And every road that takes him, takes him down
And by himself, it's easy to pretend
He'll never love again

And keeping to himself he plays the game
Without her love it always ends the same
While life goes on around him everywhere
He's playing solitaire

Another day, a lonely day
So much to say that goes unspoken
And through the night, his sleepless nights
His eyes are closed, his heart is broken

And solitaire's the only game in town
And every road that takes him, takes him down
And by himself it's easy to pretend
She's coming back again

And keeping to himself he plays the game
Without her love it always ends the same
While life goes on around him everywhere
He's playing solitaire

A little hope, goes up in smoke
Just how it goes, goes without saying
Solitaire
And by himself it's easy to pretend
He'll never love again
Ohhh

And keeping to himself he plays the game
Without her love it always ends the same
While life goes on around him everywhere
He's playing solitaire
Solitaire, solitaire

Bonding Time with Siblings

I'm living alone now in Parañaque.  One of the things that I miss is my bonding time with my brothers and sisters.  We are seven and I am the eldest.

Cruz.
Klasmeyt 1:  Nagugutom na ako. Kain tayo diyan sa Goodah.
Bing:  Anong Buddha?  Baka Bodhi!!!

Isang araw ulit, nag-dinner sila buong klase sa isang pizza parlor.
Girl Klasmeyt:  Naku, late na tayo makakauwi nito.  Tatawag muna ako sa bahay. May phone kaya dito?
Bing:  Anong Coke?

Am I supporting the right causes?
Am I happy?
What are they thinking?
What was I thinking?
Am I doing the right thing?
Am I doing the thing right?
What will they say?
Am I saying the right things?
May magagalit ba?
May matutuwa ba?

After asking myself these questions, iisa lang lagi ang sagot ko.

I don't care.

Let Us Help This Couple in Distress

As I was surfing the internet last night, I chanced upon the blog of a couple.  They are seeking help so that their ordeal of almost two years may end.  Someone is trying to extort money from them.  Please take time to read their blog and the least that we can do to help is to post their blog in our Facebook accounts or other social networking sites until their case reaches the proper authorities.

Comments on Published Article: Kasambahay, Katulong, o Alila: Sino ang Kasama Mo sa Bahay?

I wrote the article "Kasambahay, Katulong, o Alila: Sino ang Kasama Mo sa Bahay?" and submitted it to Definitely Filipino.  I was touched when I read the comments to my article.  Some of the comments came from OFW's.  I was thinking about the local domestic helpers when I wrote the article, so it was a surprise when some of the comments came from them.  I am posting some of the comments here.

  • in our home, they rule! i've kept them for over 25 years - lasts longer than my marriage.
  • NOTA.she's a family for us;-)
  • whatever you address them, kasambahay, katulong or alila, relationship between both sides will depend on how they treat each other.
  • kasambahay, pero kung minsan depende rin yan sa amo na napasukan mo even you want to treat them well kung sila naman di ka nila treat na maayos di mo rin ma-blame ang isang katulong, relationship between them depends on both sides
  • ako, alila na talaga ako...haaay
  • pambihira yung kasambahay.  Karamihan, katulong siguro
  • right now, after poison ivy, i'd rather alone do the household chores
  • whatever u call it, maids are treated like a family in our home with respect.
  • parehas lang iyon.. the terms doesn't matter.. it's how you treat a person (your help) do you treat them like a slave or would you mind to treat them like your close family member tending your needs? you should treat your alila.. katulong.. aide helper.. kasambahay .. atsay.. labandera..nanny.. fairly.. and w/ respect.. you must direct them 'coz they don't know everything or what ur thinking.. :) 007

  • Im nanny too but minsan medyo mhirap din ipaalam na katulong ka kc may mga taong sa una they talk to u then asking what your job and u tell them the truth the nextime u meet them they ignore you!!!kapwa mo din pinoy kc mha nurse daw kc sila.
Be proud of what you do because it is a skill and a vocation as well. GOD bless.
  • In demands talaga ang mga pinoys all over dahil sa galing magtrabaho at masipag.
  • pra sa akin kahit ano pa work natin d2 sa ibang bansa consider prin tyo as domestic helper mapa doctor, murse, engeener،o ano pa man skilled workers wlng pinag iba tyo d2 kasi tyong lahat ay pumuunta d2 pra mag trabajo proud to be skilled workers but much more proud all who sacrifice them self kahit hirap at mababa ang kinikita basta marangal lng na trabajo walng pinag iba sa mga skilled workers halos compara sa kita sila ay kasambahay ang tinatangap nila sahod walng bawas dahil libre na lahat eh tyo kung may accomodation man eh ang pagkain at personal na gastos halos pareparehas lng dn,ang dami nga mga umunlad na housemaids o kya nanny walang kaalamalam mansion na ang bahay sa pinas at malaking negosyo, aanhin man natin sa malaking sahod halos pantay lng ang gagastusin, wla rin maiipon db? Kili-Kili Power

Mahal ang blade at tiyani sa kanila.

Quote 28

No one else can make you happy. If you expect a boyfriend or a wife to "complete you", sooner or later they will disappoint you. You have to make yourself happy first.

Forgive yourself, accept yourself and learn to like yourself. When you change from being desperate to being unattached, that’s then when wonderful people start showing up! - Andrew Matthews, Author

Patay-Gutom

Patay-gutom
Definition: timawa, palaging gutom, matakaw (from Morpolohiya - Wikipedia)

Ang pagiging patay-gutom ay isang state of mind.

Miriam to Enrile: Masturbation Is not Murder

by Ayee Macaraig

Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago shot down the statement of Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile that life begins when a man produces a sperm and a woman produces an egg.

During the resumption of the debate on Senate bill 2865 or the reproductive health bill, Enrile said, "There is life already [in the sperm and the egg] but not yet a human life because a woman cannot produce a human being without the sperm of a man, and a man cannot produce a human being without the egg of the woman so these elements on their own have life."

Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago rebuts the statement of Senate Pres. Juan Ponce Enrile that a sperm has life.

Santiago urged the Senate President to reconsider his stand. "If it is the position of Sen. Enrile that a sperm has life, of course, if a sperm has life, then that life should be protected. Therefore, in logic, when a person masturbates and releases all those sperms for nothing, he commits murder? Let's think about that."

Santiago and RH bill co-author Sen. Pia Cayetano fielded questions from Enrile and Sen. Sergio "Serge" Osmeña III on the definition of conception.

The two female legislators cited reports saying that there is no consensus in the scientific community on when life begins. Because of differences in meaning, some critics of the RH bill argue that contraceptives are abortifacients, but supporters of the measure deny this.

To resolve the debate, Santiago said she and Cayetano are open to adopting a working definition of conception only for the purposes of the RH bill, and not as a medically prescribed definition.

Cayetano pointed out that even members of the 1987 Constitutional

Commission failed to reach an agreement on the meaning of conception.

Ping vs. 'morning-after pill'

Sen. Panfilo Lacson, meanwhile, expressed opposition to allowing the use of so-called morning-after pills. Even he is a co-author of the bill, Lacson said he will withdraw his support for the measure if it includes the pills in the family planning devices couples can choose from.

"Because to me, if there's possibility of life, I don't want any contraceptive to interfere. Because no one will know after sexual intercourse if there's life. The man and the woman who engage in the sexual act will not know," he said.

Cayetano sought to address Lacson's concern. "This is a non-issue because the morning-after pill is not a registered contraceptive."

Sen. Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III, who is against the RH bill, also said he will raise questions in the upcoming sessions about the use of intrauterine device or IUD.

The Senate is debating the RH bill, which has yet to hurdle second reading. The bill so far has an equal number of supporters and critics in the chamber, with many senators still silent about their stand on the issue.
The interpellations will continue on September 26, Monday.

Kakasa Ka Ba Sa Grade One?

A first grade teacher collected well known proverbs. For a quiz, she gave each child in her class the first half of a proverb and asked them to come up with the remainder of the proverb.

* Strike while the insect is close.
* Never underestimate the power of ants.
* Don’t bite the hand that looks dirty.
* Better to be safe than punch a grade 7 boy.
* If you lie down with dogs, you’ll stink in the morning.
* It’s always darkest before DaylightSaving Time.
* You can lead a horse to water but how?
* No news is impossible.
* A miss is as good as a Mr.
* You can’t teach an old dog new maths.
* Love all, trust me.
* The pen is mightier than the pigs.
* An idle mind is the best way to relax.
* Where there’s smoke there’s pollution.
* Happy the bride who gets all the presents.
* A penny saved is not much.
* Two’s company, three’s the Musketeers.
* Don’t put off till tomorrow what you put on to go to bed.
* Laugh and the whole world laughs with you, cry and you have to blow your nose.
* There are none so blind as Stevie Wonder.
* Children should be seen and not smacked or grounded.
* If at first you don’t succeed get new batteries.
* You get out of something only what you see in the picture on the box.
* When the blind leadeth the blind get out of the way.
* Better late than pregnant

You Know You're in Mid-Age When

your optometrist tells you:
- that you must use reading glasses when you're reading and have your contact lenses on
- you must remove your eyeglasses (if not wearing contacts) and read with bare eyes
- you'll need doble-vista glasses in the future.

Bakit Bawal?

Hahaha!!!

This one is from MgaEpal:

What Kids Put in Their Test Papers 2

Eto pa isang test paper.  Genius!!!

Takbo, Gloria, Takbo!!!

I found some pictures making fun of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo in braces.

Laurence Is My Name

I love my name. I don't know if you love yours as much as I do mine, pero hindi naman ako obsessed.

Pwede mong basahin iyon dito My Blog Name.

Emo Mode Ako

Every time I sing or hear this song, I can't help getting emotional.  Because this song tells exactly the story of my life.  I did not have a good relationship with my father while he was living.  It's not that I had not loved him, but he did not love me.  Everything I did was wrong for him.  He didn't like me.  He did not like how I thought.  He did not like to hear what I had to say.  He did not give me the chance to express myself.  Everything about me was wrong.  I am not writing this to dishonor him.  I am writing this because I need to.  For myself.  So I can move on.  If I don't face this now, I know I will have to face this again in the future.

I grew up hating my father most of my life.  He was selfish and lived only for himself.  He did not provide.  He did not love.  He did not feed.  And add to that the verbal, physical, emotional, and psychological abuse that I received from him.  I started suffering depression when I was in my teens.  I didn't recognize it back then, but as I became more mature, I researched what I was going through, and how I can fight it.  I have been fighting it alone for most of my life.  I am not going to surrender.  If I would, I would have done a long time ago.  This is one of the reasons that I put up this blog.  I gathered in this blog the tools that I need to help myself.  I know someday I'm going to need help, and when I can find no help, I have this blog to turn to.  Me helping myself.  Because I just won't give up.  I will continue putting up a fight...with life. - Rence

Perfect
by Simple Plan

Hey Dad look at me
Think back and talk to me
Did I grow up according to plan?

And do you think I’m wasting my time
doing things I wanna do?
But it hurts when you disapprove all along

And now I try hard to make it
I just want to make you proud

I’m never gonna be good enough for you
Can’t pretend that I’m alright

And you can’t change me

‘Cuz we lost it all
Nothing lasts forever
I’m sorry I can’t be perfect

Now it’s just too late
And we can’t go back
I’m sorry I can’t be Perfect

I try not to think
About the pain I feel inside
Did you know you used to be my hero?

All the days you spent with me
Now seem so far away
And it feels like you don’t care anymore

And now I try hard to make it
I just want to make you proud

I’m never gonna be good enough for you
I can’t stand another fight

And nothing’s alright

‘Cuz we lost it all
Nothing lasts forever
I’m sorry I can’t be perfect

Now it’s just too late
And we can’t go back
I’m sorry I can’t be perfect

Nothing’s gonna change
The things that you said
And nothing’s gonna make this right again

Please don’t turn your back
I can’t believe it’s hard
Just to talk to you
But you don’t understand

‘Cuz we lost it all
Nothing lasts forever
I’m sorry I can’t be perfect

Now it’s just too late
And we can’t go back
I’m sorry I can’t be perfect

‘Cuz we lost it all
Nothing lasts forever
I’m sorry I can’t be perfect

Now it’s just too late
And we can’t go back
I’m sorry I can’t be perfect
